Obtain the impossible: large-range linear motion with high force and low power consumption. You have all this - with high resolution and precision - using Energen's MicroStep™ motors.

Energen stepper motors use three actuators to achieve bi-directional linear motion in a stepwise fashion. The center actuator provides the large-scale motion, 10-50 mm in discrete steps. Two side actuators provide positive clamping power allowing the motor to hold any position for "set and forget" placement. Fine tune mode achieves high resolution positioning of less than 0.05 µm.

The electrically actuated clamps provide positive traction resulting in high-force, high-speed, bi-directional motion without backlash. The drive electronics operate the motor in either of two modes:

Stepping: Step size and stepping frequency can be varied.
Fine tune: Precision positioning within a single step.
Energen stepper motors are capable of holding position with zero power dissipation. This is extremely beneficial for critical uses where power is at a premium or subject to interruption or failure.

Nanoprecision

The position of the actuator can be controlled to a resolution of less than 50 nanometers.

Hold position when powered off

Energen motors hold position when off, requiring no power.

Larger range of motion

MicroStep motors have a range motion up to 50 mm. Larger ranges can be custom designed.

Low Power

When moving, the operating power requirements are small, from tens of watts to less than a microwatt for the cryogenic model.

Optional Cryogenic Operation

Energen low temperature actuators operate at near absolute zero with the added benefit of delivering higher motion with the same force and precision as room temperature actuators.

Software Control

Optional PC interface controllers can operate with Energen's PC-M software application or from any development language supporting COM objects, including Visual Basic, Visual C++ and LabVIEW

Low Voltage

Energen products increase safety and reliability because they operate at less than 12 volts.
