Cryogenic Testing

Energen has extensive cryogenic testing capabilities that include thermophysical and mechanical testing of actuators and materials. In this facility, we can determine elastic modulus, ultimate tensile strength, yield strength, and compressive strength of samples. Our thermal conductivity and thermal expansion measurement facilities are similar in design and operation to the measurement techniques first developed at NIST, and our thermal expansion measurement technique is consistent with ASTM E228-85. Continuous measurement capability and accurate temperature control enables our system to measure physical changes resulting from internal cracking, microstructural changes, and other phenomena.
